Hi, I’m Marissa! *waves*
I am an artist living in Phoenix, Arizona. I grew up in St. Louis but spent most of my childhood in the southernmost part of Middle Tennessee. I have been drawing all my life, pretty much since I could hold a pencil. Lots of things have inspired me over the years. When I was young I watched a lot of cartoons and could’t get enough. Danny Phantom and Kim Possible still remain my favorite cartoons. The character design and story telling really spoke to me.
Fast forward to 2015, when I started college at Scottsdale Community College for a degree in Graphic Design. I had a teacher that really LOVED comics, and at this point I wasn’t really drawing much. He showed me prints and his collection of original art. Thats where my life really took off. Thats when I knew I wanted to do comics in some way, shape, or form.
In December of 2018 I took up an apprenticeship with Mike DeBalfo. That has really been a wild ride! I had admired his work for a while and his style definitely fit my preference. A couple years later I started getting published with Ryan M. Kincaid, Counterpoint Comics and Source Point Press, as well as a few other smaller Indie publishers. I’ve attended a handful of conventions and had a few tables of my own so far.
I am still in the infancy of my career in comics, and there are still many goals I have for myself. There are publishers I am dying to work with, but that all comes with time. I still have many things to learn and a lot of growing to do.
Thank you for visiting my site!
